History To boost performance of the Do.335 "Pfeil" the mixed powerplant project was studied at the end of the war by both Dornier and Heinkel firms. Two basic layouts differing with the location of the air intakes (single dorsal or two side fuselage) were suggested. Both were to feed the HeS.011 jet positioned in the rear of the fuselage. A single piston engine was retained in front.
